On the morning of 23rd March 1945, Gordon Bellerby flew 16 Sqn operation No.1926 to take photographs of Bocholt, 250 km NE of his base at Melsbroek. His account, later that day, in the Line Book gives his account of how the morning went. Mysteriously, this mosaic strip, clearly marked with the operation number, 16/1926, includes a beautiful stereo pair showing Cologne Cathedral standing above the ruined city. That was 120 km south of his route, on the far side of the Ruhr and the site of the Rhine Crossing, which was to take place that evening. < Sorry, your browser does not support inline SVG.
