The order to form the old 34 Wing was given on 9th August 1941. Six wings, numbered
32 to 37, were created under Army Co-operation Command to support each of the Army
Command Headquarters. 34 Wing supported Eastern Command, with their headquarters co-
located at Luton. One year later, the order of battle was:
